Beaches and eternal summer
Piura is the land of eternal summer, with streets illuminated by the permanent northern sun of Peru. Tourism in this city based on its spas and beaches are favorites of surfers: Máncora, Colán, Los Órganos, Vichayito, Cabo Blanco (famous for hosting the writer Ernest Hemingway) and Lobitos. In this region we can find colonial temples and artisan villages such as Chulucanas and Catacaos. Also, you can find miraculous lagoons like Las Huaringas. In Piura is the most extensive arid territory of Peru: the Sechura desert. Among its celebrations are the feast of the Captive Lord of Ayabaca and the Holy Week of Catacaos, characterized by a deep religious devotion. Its gastronomy is wide and varied.
Location
It is located in the north of Peru and, to the northeast, it shares a border with Ecuador. Most of its territory is located on the coast (desert ecosystems and dry forest); and some localities in the sierra (paramo and mist forests).
